Maspalomas
An ode to hope and self-acceptance
Vicente, now 76 years old, came out of the closet and left his wife and daughter when he was 50.
He has spent the last 25 years living happily with his partner in Maspalomas (Gran Canaria). However, everything is turned upside down when Vicente suffers a stroke that leaves him in a coma. When he wakes up, he is faced with an unexpected reality: he has been moved back to Donostia, and his daughter has placed him in a nursing home. Vicente decides not to offer any explanation about his sexual orientation.
At first, he doesn't think it's necessary. And so, almost without realizing it, Vicente returns to where he started--he goes back into the closet, renouncing everything he worked so hard to achieve.

This documentary charts the rise and rise of the legendary club night De Trut, a mainstay of the Amsterdam club night since 1985. Through 10 uniquely personal portraits, director Pim Mookhoek paints a vivid picture of the community that has kept De Trut going for four decades and counting. The stories detail how volunteers have maintained De Trut's cult status and its vital importance to the community and to themselves — without ever giving in to commercial or profit-based motives.
From De Trut's role during the AIDS epidemic, to its current status as an inclusive and safe dancefloor in a rapidly changing society: this film tells the story of a Sunday club night that grew into a lasting cultural and activist icon.
