What would De Vierde Man be without its menacing music? Or De Nieuwe Wildernis without its sweeping orchestral score? Film music can build tension, evoke emotion, shape expectations, or completely transform the meaning of a scene—often without us even realizing it.

In this special masterclass, film composers Bob Zimmerman and Loek Dikker take us behind the scenes of their craft. Using numerous film clips, they demonstrate—both visually and aurally—how their music is created and the impact music can have on moving images.

It goes beyond just watching and listening, however: the two composers will engage in a conversation with each other, moderator Rudi de Boer, and the audience about their creative choices, working methods, and experiences. An interactive evening filled with film, music, and stories—and, of course, plenty of opportunities to ask questions of two masters of Dutch film music.
